WISH LIST: Urban Outfitters

Shortly after graduating college I learnt that the easiest way for me to avoid blowing my entire paycheck was to stay far far away from the mall. When I moved home to Bermuda I applied the same concept. If I could stay out of town and away from the tempation of Gibbons and AS Cooper I could avoid counting pennies at the end of the month. However, this concept is twice as hard to apply to ONLINE SHOPPING.  So many stores now have their entire stock available online, as well as the all alluring "exclusive online sales" section. Staying on a budget in these difficult economic times has trully become a task. How do you resist when you don't even have to leave home to shop? I could do it day, night, even in my pajamas... the WISH LIST! Basically the wish list is what I would buy if I had unlimited funds and no real responsibilities. Lol,  if only!

OoTD - Winter White

Christmas is easily one of my favorite times of the year. All the decorations, gift buying and not to mention the food! So I was feeling all "winter wonderland" but in Bermuda it was still rather warm.

So on Boxing Day I wore my sparkly grey tweety tee, with my "winter white" sweater vest and black leggings.

Trade out heels for boots for a more casual look.
Like my little mini tree?

On Christmas day I chose a lace mini dress from GoJane.com, black boyfriend sweater from VictoriasSecret.com and cinched the waist with a belt.

Cozy and cute!

Review of the Kardashian Kollection

I promised a review of the Kardashian Kollection and here it is...
After browsing the website on Sears.com I selected 3 dresses.

The first reminded me of dresses Kim often wears on the show. I chose this slate grey color because it works for winter and summer. I'm quite pleased with the material quality of the dress and the shape which broadens my generally slim shoulders...  unfortunately the zipper was completely jammed making it impossible to close the dress. (thus no pics from the back) Hopefully this is an isolated incident. :(

My second dress has an all over pink, purple and black pattern and fits perfectly... only problem is this is not the dress I ordered. : / (and yes I checked the order confirmation...)

After trying it on a few times I do like the dress but it's a little annoying not to have the one I wanted in the first place.

My favorite purchase is the tattoo dress! The striking black and white pattern is bold and the scooped out back is just a little daring.  ;)

Warning: Only wear if you like being the center of attention!

Overall the quality is similar to stores like Bebe.com and the prices comparable. FYI, if you're small framed like me I only fit into XS petite at Bebe.com whereas I fit in the regular XS for the Kardashian Kollection.
Oh and I just checked the website and the Kardashian Kollection is on sale again! Later Dolls!

Selena Gomez hosting MTV Europe Movie Awards

Recently one celebrity has continuously caught my eye. This year Selena Gomez has slated herself as a strong contender in the fashion arena and a style icon in the near future. With the help of Basia Richards, Selena's Hollywood stylist, the transition from Disney princess to Sophisticated actress/Edgy rock-star has been effortless! As host of  MTV Europe Movie Awards, Selena donned 9 stunning outfits and here are my favorites.

This long sleeved purple sequin body suit screams DIVA! (I actually have a purple sequin backless dress that I love.)

I love Selena's BOLD attitude towards color! This outfit is a great example of color-blocking at its best!

Being a girly-girl at heart, it's hard for me to resist a bubble skirt and sweet heart neckline!

The gold skin tight leggings and platform heels just scream rock-star to me!

This Marchesa white mini is so gorgeous! The all over applique makes a bold statement and the sheer back, button detail keeps it sexy were it could have been stuffy. The tulle ballerina skirt shows off Selena's slim waist and legs. Love, Love, Love this dress!

Presenting the Kardashian Kollection at SEARS

The Kardashian clan was first thrust into the spotlight in 2007 with the popular reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The show featured mother-daughter dynamics, sibling rivalries, matrimonial mayhem and Dash, the store the girls worked in together. Recently Kourtney, Kim & Khloe annouced their next joint venture - Kardsahian Kollection at Sears. The collection showcases characteristics of each girl's personal style; Kourtney's wide leg pants and Kim's skin tight dresses. Khloe even has pictures up on her website of her wearing an outfit from the collection. The collection includes clothing, handbags, lingerie, jewelry, shoes, belts & sunglasses.

The collection has lots of basics that you can build on as well as show stoppers like Khloe's leopard print dress.

I can't wait to order the black and white number Kim is sporting!

The girls even modeled the naughty but nice lingerie pieces!

Check out the collection for yourself while everything is 30%!

The Museum of ME!

You see the most interesting things pop up on facebook and this site is certainly one of them. It does exactly what the name implies, gathers information from your facebook account and compiles it in a way that is truly innovative. The Museum is divided in sections labeled "friends", "photos", "words" & "likes". The whole design of presenting "you" to "you" is brilliant!

Splurge vs. Steal: Zip Leggings

Recently I've really missed blogging... so I'm getting back to it! Yay!

Browsing through Cosmopolitan Magazine online I came across their Splurge vs. Steal section, featuring zip leggings. They've compared a $98 pair from Nordstrom and a $29.40 pair from Bloomingdale's

Here I am wearing mine and they cost under $5.

When it comes to shopping I think you should pay for longevity and originality. No matter what the name brand, leggings will all stretch out and require replacing from time to time. Plus there are a million stores that make leggings just like these. Why pay almost $100 for them. O_O

I've had this pair for about a year now and they're still going strong! =)

To Splurge or to Steal? Hmmmm...

For me this is a splurge for sure! In this case, the name brand Guess, actually does mean something - longevity! The simple feminine design, suitable for day and night, means I would get a lot of wear out of it.

But that's just me.

OoTD -> Hello Kitty!

Me, trying on clothes in Gibbons changing room. Notice the tag on the jeans. lol

Personally I think at $38 my top was over priced but I just had to have it. I like that its longer on the sides & back, giving it a slightly slouchy look.

Hello Kitty top from Gibbons
Black skinny jeans from Gibbons
&
Black ankle boots from Barratts

Show Time @ Shine's!

For those of you that don't know, my mother has a bridal boutique called "At Last Bridal". She brings in wedding gowns, mother of the bride dresses and formal attire. A week ago today, she held a fashion show at Shine's Place (formerly Azione & Vintage in Bermuda).

Here are some behind the scenes photos I captured
Outfit #1! Blue cocktail dress with matching black sequin belt! The ankle boots are from Barratts in London and bought the little purse at Gibbons in Bermuda!

Striking a pose is one of best friends, Lawriette. She flew in the night before and showed up ready to go!

Outfit #2! Pink and green with printed Calla Lilies, this gown has an asian feel.

Form fitting, pooling on the ground with a see through back, this dress is sure to attract some attention.

My friend Shantarrae looks like a love goddess draped in this pink Grecian inspired number!

Aww don't my friends look BEAUTIFUL!

Lawriette rocking a purple 80s throwback! I love the ruffles on the bottom.
My aqua and brown criss cross pattern dress with a daringly high split is always a show stopper!

Thanks to my friends for their constant and unwavering support! LOVE YOU GUYS

Gossip Girl Obsession! - Belles de Jour

It's the start of the new sitcom season and I'm already behind, eek!
Oh well, FABULOUS can never be rushed!

(Photo from Gossip Girl Fan)

Gossip Girl starts off this season in PARIS, one of the most chic cities in the world. Filled with romance and whimsy, Blair's Oscar de la Renta dress mimics the feel of this trend-setting city. I love the warm hues, flirty skirt and embroidered waist line. Posed in front of a painting, she's as pretty as a picture! lol

Do's & Don'ts - Empire waist dress!

Standing at the ATM, I noticed the woman in front of me was wearing a dress I had recently purchased. Unfortunately, she had a very "boxy" shape and the dress only accentuated that. Thus the inspiration for this blog...

Empire Waistline
Definition: A type of dress or top where the waist line is raised above the natural waistline, sometimes as high as right below the bust. Best on slender-on-top or petite figures, the empire dress creates the illusion of length and camouflages a bottom-heavy figure or thick waist. (from About.com)

Yes, I know I'm petite but this is just a little friendly advice. Empire waists are great from concealing a little extra weight around the middle...

However, not so much if your bust/waist/hips are relatively the same diameter. This creates a "boxy" shape which is not flattering on anyone.

Here's a bright alternative that will help to create a waist!

Balance out larger hips with a longer sleeve, creating the illusion of an "hour-glass" shape!
